MacPing 3.0 features the following changes since MacPing 2.0.4:
• MacPing 3.0 can display all devices in a particular AppleTalk network, zone, or range of network numbers. MacPing is much better at finding devices on extended AppleTalk networks or via ARA.
• MacPing 3.0 has new AppleTalk probe types: Name-Binding, Custom Echo and Random Echo. MacPing is much pickier about the packet format of replies.
• With MacTCP installed, MacPing 3.0 can test IP networks with ICMP echoes or SNMP requests. Given an IP address, MacPing can discover the appropriate subnet range to test.
• MacPing 3.0 can retrieve system information from Macintoshes, Printers, and IP devices with a single option-click-and-hold.
• MacPing 3.0 has a "Find..." command that lets you locate specific device names or types easily.
• MacPing 3.0 saves common MacPing settings like "Beep When Drops Occur", the window position, or your favorite custom echo packet in its preferences file.
• MacPing 3.0 displays your AppleTalk version, AppleTalk address, IP address, IP subnet mask and Ethernet address in its About Box.
• MacPing 3.0 supports System 7 features like Balloon help and AppleScript.
• MacPing 3.0 is faster and more responsive. There are lots of subtle improvements.
